Living among Woodstock’s Black Bear Population

Woodstock Bear in the GarbageAs a 35 year old, I have been living in the country all my life.  Up until just a few years ago, I have never seen a Black Bear in a public area or close to my home.  Now they are everywhere.  Within the last few years, things have changed both in the population and the feeding habits of the Black Bear found in Woodstock and the Hudson Valley area.  Bears are now more prevalent in public areas than ever and pose a small problem to those who are unfamiliar with exactly how to co-exist.

Wow!! I would hate to look out and see this in my back yard!! He is beautiful, all I have in my back yard are deer and turkey.

I didn't realize we had black bears in Woodstock.  I'm in Rhinebeck, I am curious do you know if the bears cross the bridge :) !
